Dear friends,
This fundraiser is set up to solicit donations to do essential repairs for a house building for an low income family. This house belongs to Mr. Thomas and Susan, residents of Kottanad Panchayat in Kerala, who are in their 60s with no assets or stable income. Thomas works as the priest’s assistant (Kapyar) at a local church in Kottanad and Susan is a homemaker. They have a son who’s a student. Thomas also tries to find work as a daily wage worker as much as he can but his poor health conditions don’t allow him to strain much. In short, the family barely gets by but they can not afford to pay for any other living expenses without help and support from others.
The house that Thomas and his family live in is a very old house with cracked walls, mud flooring, and a leaky roof. Water pours in through the cracked ceiling tiles and the house is inhabitable when there’s rain. A local contractor recently visited the property and prepared an estimate for the urgent repair work. It’s going to take about $8000 at a minimum to complete the most essential repairs. Our goal is to raise that amount as soon as possible to help this family.
